Kasenga is a dark-roasted coffee with the taste of red berries and dark chocolate. The aftertaste is slightly musty with strong weight. Kasenga’s beans are 100% Arabica from organic and fair trade plantations in the Congo.
The name is taken from the area of Kasenga in Uvira in eastern Congo where our journey towards a coffee company began.

The coffee is grown at high altitudes, beautifully located in the eastern part of the Congo, in North Kivu Province. On mountain slopes in Virunga National Park and along Lake Edward, the coffee berries are allowed to slowly ripen until they are ready to be harvested.
Once the coffee berries have gone through the process that ultimately gives us two coffee beans from each berry, the beans are left to dry in the sun before being packed and shipped to us for roasting.
Chocolate balls with a little twist? These delicious treats blend coffee, mango, and chocolate to perfection.
INGREDIENTS
3 dl fiber oatmeal (works with regular oatmeal too)
1 dl caster sugar
3 tablespoons of cocoa
2 tbsp brewed coffee (kasenga)
75 grams of butter
75 grams of dried mango
200 grams of dark chocolate 70%
1 cup coconut
DO THIS
- Make coffee and melt the chocolate over a water bath
- Mix together oatmeal, granulated sugar and cocoa
- Add coffee and butter
- Cut the dried mango into smaller pieces using scissors and add to the bowl with the other ingredients.
- Roll into balls and then place chocolate balls in the freezer for 20 min
- Dip the chocolate balls into the melted chocolate and top with coconut
- Serve

The coffee producers in eastern Congo have for a long time been affected by war and conflict, which has led to their plantations being neglected and the producers have risked their lives to smuggle the raw coffee to neighboring Uganda on the other side of Lake Edward. It is only in recent years and with increased stability in the area that the producers have been able to get their revenge, with high-quality coffee, a burning commitment, and a lot of hard work, coffee from the Congo has become something to be reckoned with on the international market again. And we are proud that we have been able to be part of the development since the start in 2017. Together with you as a customer, we can continue to build up our fellow human beings’ standard of living and life’s work.
