Mom Natasha

Christmas is fast approaching and wish lists are being written with great enthusiasm. The newspapers write about this year's Christmas presents, about the best bargains and the shop windows are filled with presents, offers and tempting Christmas decorations. At home on the fridge, the children have started to put up their wish lists and I'm rushing around to fill this year's Advent calendars.

What's at the top of your wish list?
On Natasha's wish list is – the opportunity to support my child.

Natasha is 18 years old and was in school when she became pregnant and had to interrupt her schooling due to the pregnancy. Her boyfriend left her and does not want to be a part of the child's life. Now Natasha lives at home with her parents and thinks a lot about her and her child's future. She will either continue her studies or she will go into working life, find an internship to learn a profession and thus be able to support herself and her child.

Being able to provide for your child is at the top of your wish list.

Natasha is one of the mothers who was able to give birth free of charge at Rutasocka Clinic in the spring of 2020 when Uvira, Congo, was hit by floods in addition to the ongoing pandemic. Thanks to not having to pay for maternity care, she was able to buy supplies for her baby.

By buying Christmas gifts from us at Rutasoka, you contribute to safe childbirths as we at Rutasoka reinvest part of our turnover into being able to offer families maternity care and healthcare in eastern Congo.
