Previously, about one father a month was present during childbirth at Rutasoka Clinic in Congo, now we are up to 15 and that's since the initiative started on Father's Day 2020.
Every year in November, Father's Day is celebrated. We buy socks, ties or a three-digit number and write the world's best dad on a card. This year, in the midst of Father's Day planning, an idea was born to create an initiative to increase fathers' presence during childbirth in Congo. We don't want fathers in Congo to miss out on the experience and the first contact with their child. Because as common as it is for the man in Sweden to accompany the woman to childbirth, it is just as unusual in Congo.
We went from thought to action and decided to provide free prenatal care to all families where the father is present during the birth, an initiative that has been greatly appreciated.
The initiative has sown a seed for new thoughts and discussions, and the younger generation has begun to question old traditions.
Thanks to our customers, we will continue this initiative at Rutasoka Clinic for the time being. Together, we are contributing to the society of tomorrow, which is built on participation and responsibility, one cup of coffee at a time.
We at Rutasoka reinvest a portion of our turnover in being able to offer families maternity care and healthcare in eastern Congo.
