Here’s how your choice of coffee is part of providing incentives that benefit farmers individually and improve agricultural research and development.
The last
18
months
In the last 18 months, we have saved 159 tons of fruit from becoming food waste, while creating 692 jobs in the processing process.
During the same period, we have imported 66 tonnes of raw coffee from small-scale producers in eastern Congo. This corresponds to 4.5 containers.
On average, 100 farmers contribute to a container, while 200 women work to sort the coffee beans at the cooperative (per container) and 12 men pack each container.
Coffee plants
One of our first projects together with the coffee farmers in Eastern Congo wasn providing 400 farmers with 20 thousand new coffee plants, now we have doubled the number of distributet coffee plants.
The next aim is to provide the 3909 coffee farmers that we work with currently, with 100 coffee plants each. That is 390 900 new coffee plants, that will increase the yield of coffee berried with at least 469 080 kg per year. The potential with the right care and engagement is an increase of 1 446 330 kg per year.

Detta bidrar i sin tur till att skapa ekonomisk stabilitet för producenterna, det bidrar också till självständighet, trygghet och bättre levnadsstandard för familjerna.

The social commitment, which we attach great importance to, contributes both short-term and long-term to a better economy for the families affected by our value chain and the communities in which they operate. Our commitment to sustainable agriculture also contributes to safer and higher incomes for producers – in especially in the long term. Something that also motivates young people in society to be active in agriculture.

Agroforestry
Förutom att tillhandahålla nya kaffeplantor, arbetar vi för närvarande med ett projekt för att öka och förbättra övergången till agroforestry. Detta kommer att göras genom att diversifiera odlingarna med andra träd och växter som kommer att skapa skugga för kaffeplantorna (höja kvaliteten på kaffet), öka den biologiska mångfalden samt absorbera CO2.
The Women's Clinic
Congo ranks among the countries in the world that top the list of maternal and child mortality, largely as a result of the mineral conflicts that have affected the healthcare system. This became an important reason why Rebu chose to found and build a maternity and maternity clinic in Uvira, Congo.
A visit to the construction of the clinic in 2016 and conversations with the local population about what we could do to create jobs also became the starting point for Rutasoka as a company.
